So yeh, how does this gAme look compared to anarchy online? I've played for a bit, i really liked it!!!!! But it's the whole future thingi that gets me happi!! But yeh, I havent started this one yet, my bro says it's really good, I think he's right. I just want to iknow from someone whos played anarchy b4.

Anarchy online was a good game in its time, it wasn't so much as the game though then the social aspect. Once they got rid of roleplaying and tried to make it an action game, it went down the tubes.

I tried AO in beta--then once at release, I had major problems running it due to a 56k ISP and slower PC combo. I was in EQ or DAOC at the time and it played smoother.
I too was excited about the setting--sci-fi/futuristic. Too bad I could not play it enjoyably though. If I recall--weren't the missions instances?

Yeh I think (fink, hehehe) if yew mean like if the missions were unique places, yeh, so no camping in those, but In the Shadowlands, it was camp citi. But yeh, when you gots a guild helping yew out.. it's coolies. So yeh, i really love that game. I'm just hoping that this one will be better, cuase I never did the whole thign like in the 'past' or like dungeons and dragons... I never thought I'd like something like that, but HEY!! This one looks REALLEH coolies!!!

I played the game for a very long time. When it first came out, then after my guild crashed and burned when the controllable areas were taken, I died out of it. Rejoined upon the release of Shadowlands, played for probley a month or so, then stopped.

The game was one of my all time favorites. Just so much to do... *Sigh*

Might redownload and play for a while.

I played for a while... was part of the original Dust Brigade that was tossed into the storyline as assassins of both sides faction leaders. It was interesting... but little things bother me (like the cars... the size of a shoebox, and cost a hundred times what I had).

I went to SWG from that game... and from SWG to here. AO doesn't compare at ALL to Guild Wars. I can't say it enough... this game is just great on so many levels. AO lacked better graphics, sounds, playability, and player immersion (especially when talking about community involvement... players with other players).

It did however do the ONE thing that you rarely find in any other online game... they involved the players (used their Guild names in the news and even some of the player names to move the storyline). I always begged SWG for that... never happened.

I agree that Guild Wars is a much better game than AO.

AO was fun until I hit 105 with my MP and realised the grind to 220 was pretty much more of the same. Kitted out, yalmed up, and millions in the bank... honestly it became boring. A real pity, since the potential for roleplay was once real.

On the other hand, FunCom will always have a special place in my heart for the introduction of the 'leet'. The first time I ran up on a leet and whacked it and it screamed with its dying breath, "I'LL GET MY MAIN!" I purely lost it.

The progression of leets from the 'Ubah Leet' to the 'Red Eyed Leet' was great, as well.

And who could ever forget Gridstream parties at Reet Retreat? Good times. (sigh)

I felt bad for them when I saw they were giving away a free year to new accounts. You can always tell when an MMO is going down the tubes... first its the 'free trial' then its the 'free reactivation', then its the 'free year' (if they make it that far).

Ah well.

I played Anarchy Online for a short while after it became free for this year, but I didn't like it very much. Couldn't get myself into it.

As for all those people saying that Star Wars Galaxies went to hell after the combat upgrade, I'm in complete agreement.
